How to Print and Mail a Letter

Snail mail may seem like a lost art in today’s age of text messages and instant communication, but handwritten letters are still a powerful way to reach out to people. If you want to make a big impression and get your message across, you need to choose the right paper and envelope, write it in a clear and concise manner, and include a business reply envelope.

The most important thing to remember when sending a letter is the recipient’s address. Start by writing the full address in the top-left corner of the envelope. Be sure to include the recipient’s post office box number if applicable, and city, state, and country. Next, add your return address in the top-left corner of the letter to ensure that any misdirected or incorrectly addressed letters will be returned to you.

After you’ve written the letter and addressed it, add a postage stamp to the upper-right corner of the envelope. You can purchase stamps at most post offices, grocery stores, and vending kiosks. You can also use a postage scale to determine exactly how much postage you need to pay before you send your letter.

If you’re sending your letter internationally, be sure to use a larger envelope that is specifically designed for overseas shipping. If you don’t have a large enough envelope, you can fold your letter and place it inside a standard USPS envelope. To ensure that your letter will be delivered safely, you should always include a business reply envelope to give your recipients an easy way to respond to your direct mailing.
